Homeschool Enrichment Program

Mission Statement

The Mission of Platte River Academy Homeschool Program is to provide enrichment opportunities for homeschooled children. Children are nurtured and taught by experienced teachers in a small, structured classroom setting where social interaction is encouraged.

Program Overview

The PRA Homeschool Program is an enrichment program for homeschooled children. It is designed to offer K-6 students  an educationally sound program utilizing elements of the Core Knowledge Curriculum. Students meet in a small, structured classroom setting with experienced teachers who guide them through lessons with a hands-on approach. Students enrolled in the program have access to the PRA library.

Tuition-Free

Tuition is free for students attending the PRA Homeschool Program.  For funding purposes, students are considered to be enrolled in PRA part-time and may not attend another public education program simultaneously. There is a small activity fee which covers the cost of classroom supplies and field trips. There may be additional fees for voluntary programs including clubs, sports teams or reenactments.

Schedule

Currently, the classroom schedule is Monday and Tuesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Content Rich Core subjects include Social Studies, Spanish, Art and Science. Core subject units integrate Language Arts and Math.  In addition, students may participate in plays, skits and a talent show.  Units are designed to allow parents to supplement these studies in the home environment.

Students are also encouraged to present independent research projects. Students benefit from social interaction taking place in class and during recess.
