Welcome to Platte River Academy! We are a public school of choice in the Douglas County School District. You will see, as you read the many links and pages on this website, that this school was not started with a “business as usual” idea or model. Our school was started to rewrite the rulebook and to extend the boundaries of the “possible.” We have had a magnificent strategy and it has worked brilliantly for over 18 years. We need volunteers to help on Tuesday, May 9th from 6:30 – 8:30 am with our annual Muffins for Moms event at the school. The kids love sharing the morning with their moms, and we just need 6-8 dads to help us with set up, serving and clean up that day. Platte River Academy succeeds because of so many dedicated and faithful volunteers. Each one of you putting in 40 hours yearly is what paves the way for our school to run. Whether it is a parent who shows up each week to fill an important role or the one who volunteers in an emergency for those last minute requests, these jobs, done by a willing parent, all contribute to the special educational environment known as P.R.A. –Parents Responding Always. PRA has a technology helpdesk for staff, students, and parents. We are happy to assist with any issues related to school applications (i.e. Schoology, IStation, Accelerated Reader, Brain Pop, etc.), the PRA mobile app, and parent e-mails. If you are having trouble with any products or services that PRA provides, simply email our helpdesk and one of our team will get in touch with you. PTO is currently in need of some positions filled for the 2017-18 school year.
1. We are looking for 2 people with photography skills who would be willing to take pictures at different events throughout the school year. 2 people are preferred in order to take turns at events.
2. We are looking for 1 person who would like to take over the Birthday Surprises. This person can work from home to compile the birthday bags that go home with each child on their special day. This is an easy way to get in your volunteer hours, especially if you have small children at home. (Guaranteed 40 hours)

Your PRA teachers have chosen the exact supplies they require and by ordering your kit now, you’ll save yourself the hassle of shopping during summer vacation. A guest speaker came to PE and taught the kids all about the sport of Speed Stacking. Speed Stacking is great for hand-eye coordination, critical thinking, goal setting and healthy competition!

PRA Parents: Let us help you with your End of the School Year Giving for teachers and staff at PRA! Instead of buying individual gift cards or gifts, join all PRA families and give to this fund. The total combined money is given to each teacher/staff to pick out their own gift card(s). We did this last year for end of the year giving and it was very well received! …Here’s how it works: We’ve gone TECHIE! All orders will be online for your convenience – to order: Click Here
Choose which child wants to contribute. You will need to complete one order per child. Indicate the teacher/staff that you would like to give to and the dollar amount you would like to contribute ($1-???). This allows for you to give a little amount to a lot of people. It can add up when you have all the school contributing even $1.00! The full amount that you give will go to the teacher/staff. Complete the family information and pay for the total with your credit card.
The deadline for submitting your contribution and payment is Friday, April 28, 2017.
Teachers/Staff: Now the fun part…after all the gift contributions have been received, each teacher/staff member will be notified of the amount received from all the students and given an Order Form to choose the exact cards in the money increments they want. They can choose exactly which stores, restaurants etc. that they would like to receive gift cards from. Each teacher/staff will receive the gift cards they selected and a note card with the names of the all the participating families — only names are given, not the amounts. Participation is Optional and Contribution Amounts are Confidential!

2. Complete your electronic ballot sent by email from election buddy on Friday (4/14) at 9:00AM. Three seats need to be filled. Complete your ballot no later than Friday, April 21 at 12:00 pm.
