Welcome to Platte River Academy! We are a public school of choice in the Douglas County School District. You will see, as you read the many links and pages on this website, that this school was not started with a “business as usual” idea or model. Our school was started to rewrite the rulebook and to extend the boundaries of the “possible.” We have had a magnificent strategy and it has worked brilliantly for over 18 years. We are very committed to continuing the school’s success and progress.
PRA is a charter school that has earned many prestigious awards, including the John Irwin School of Excellence Award (every year since 2001) and the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award. A few important dates are coming up!!
Please remember to register at PRA on one of the following days: Wednesday, August 7th 7:30am – 12:00pm or Thursday, August 8th 3pm – 6pm.
New parents are invited to attend a New Parent Meeting at the school library on Monday, August 12th 4pm – 5pm.
Finally, our back to school picnic is on Monday, August 12th 5pm – 8pm. This event is FREE and brought to you by the PTO. It is a wonderful way to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, too while enjoying fun activities and free food. You can bring a picnic blanket to sit on while you eat on the field or join us in the gym. Please remember to bring your school supplies to put in your child’s classroom!

Registration for the 2013-2014 school year will be held at Platte River Academy, Wed, Aug 7th, 2013 from 7:30am to 12:00pm and Thurs, Aug 8th, 2013 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. You may come on either day to register. Prior to Registration, please ensure that you have completed Express Check-In and a few other steps by clicking here. Express Check-In will be available from Wed, Jul 17th, 2013 thru Mon, Aug 5th, 2013.
Eighth grade families are traditionally given the opportunity to fulfill their crossing guard commitment in the month of August. We will be using Volunteer Spot again this year to help us organize our Crossing Guard Schedule. In mid-June you will receive an invitation from Rochelle to join Volunteer Spot and pick your 4 shifts. You will then receive a reminder email 2 days before your scheduled shift. Please keep your eye out for this invitation!
