Transportation to and from PRA must be provided by the parents. Bus transportation is not provided. Ride Sharing is encouraged to alleviate long lines and parking congestion.
Crossing Guard Duty:
Parent’s are required to help with crossing guard duty in the mornings and afternoons during drop-off and pick-up times. To facilitate the shared responsibility of this duty, the volunteer coordinator will contact parents for carpool duty. All families are expected to volunteer for this important duty at least four times during school year per student enrolled. Click here for the Crossing Guard and Car Line Map.
Carpool Number
Each family is assigned a carpool number which is used for more than just carpooling. It serves as a family identification number for ordering hot lunch, recording volunteer hours, distributing the parent satisfaction survey and voting. All students should know their carpool number.
Dismissal
- Afternoon dismissal begins promptly at 3:15 p.m.
- Students will be called from their classroom by carpool numbers between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m.
- Afternoon carpool ends at 3:30 p.m. or when the carpool lane is clear, whichever comes later.
- Students who have not been picked up by this time will be taken to the Homework Club and parents will be charged according to the Homework Club Policy. No exceptions will be made. No students will be left unattended on the school grounds.
Ride Sharing
We have teamed with RideArrangers to assist families with carpool arrangements. Their services are free. If you are interested in carpooling full-time, part-time or in emergencies, RideArrangers will provide you with a list of names, phone numbers and email addresses of Platte River families living close to you who are also interested in carpooling. In turn, your information (parent name, student name, grade, home intersection, phone and email) will be provided to other families. It will be up to you to contact the families on your list to make your arrangements. Families receiving a list are not obligated to carpool and can use the list as a reference or in the event they have temporary transportation needs. The only goal is to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution, so you can be assured your information will only be shared with Platte River Academy families and not with other businesses or agencies. Please note your home address will not be provided to families, only your home intersection.
