Platte River Academy

Athletics

At Platte River Academy, we are dedicated to offering quality sports programs to our 6th - 8th grade students.

Our middle school sports program is an opportunity for more experienced athletes to perform at our A team levels, and for new or less experienced athletes to perform at our B team level.

We have a "no cut" policy, as we will do everything we can to find a place for every interested athlete.

FAQs

  • Who can participate?

Any 6th - 8th grader from:  Platte River Academy, Platte River Classical Academy, any home school students, or students from neighboring schools that do not offer the sport they’re trying out for.

  • What do I need to participate?

All players need a completed athletic packet with current physical turned in prior to the first practice.  If an athlete has already participated this school year, they only need an Additional Sport Consent form.

  • Are there cuts?

There are no cuts for any middle school team.  We will do our best to find the team that best fits your child’s ability, knowledge, and attitude.  If needed (because of an abundance of players), but it’s rare, we will try and create a third (developmental) team if a coach is available.  Practices would be 7-8am two days a week for that developmental team.

  • How much does it cost?

How much does it cost? The cost per sport is $125.  This fee covers officials, coach stipends, equipment use and replacement and uniform rental.  All sport fees will be added to My School Bucks shortly after the first practice.

  • How do players get to away games?

How do players get to away games? We rely on parents to transport players to away games.  Any player can ride with their own parents, but parents that drive others must have proper insurance documentation on file which meets the minimum requirements of $100K (medical/ person) $300K (total medical/ accident) $100K (property damage).  This meets the Douglas County School District requirement.

  • When are practices and games?

Typically, practices are Mondays and Wednesdays 3:15pm - 5pm and games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 4:15pm.  If the sport has a B team, that game will start at 5:15pm.

  • How long are the seasons?

Girls Volleyball/ Boys Soccer/Cross Country: Last week of August - 1st week of October.

Boys Basketball: 2nd week of October - December.

Girls Basketball: January - 1st week of March.

Boys Volleyball/ Girls Soccer: 2nd Week of March - 1st week of May.

  • Who do I contact for more information?
