Elementary Course Descriptions for 2023-2024


Grades K-2



Math: Students will be divided based on skill levels and will participate in hands-on centers, games, activities, and practice math skills with a variety of manipulatives. 


Social Studies: Students will be learning about maps and studying the continents of Asia, Antarctica, Australia, and Africa. 


Science: Intro to Chemistry and physics, students will do labs and experiments with hands-on learning.


Language Arts: This class is center based with activities and games, read alouds, individual reading and writing lessons. 


Spanish:  Students will be taught the language through discussion, storytelling and reading. The emphasis will be given to high frequency language structures, and we will work with the phonetics of the language to improve pronunciation. A cultural connection will be added every few weeks to enrich the students' learning.


PE: Students will play games such as duck duck goose, leapfrog, and red light/green light, and participate in many other fitness activities. 


Art: Students will paint, draw, use scissors, paste, and create a variety of art projects including, seasonal projects, and keepsakes.  Students will also be learning about symmetry, colors, and being creative. 




Grades 3/4



Math 3/4: All students will take a Saxon placement test prior to the beginning of the school year. Saxon will be the core curriculum supplemented with games and other activities to solidify foundational concepts. 


Social Studies 3/4:  This year students will be learning about our great, state of Colorado by studying Colorado state history. We will also be spending some time learning about the states and regions of the USA. We will finish out the year crossing the decades learning about fashion, music,important events and so much more.


Language Arts 3: This year students will be challenged to develop their writing through a variety of writing styles. We will focus on developing more advanced sentences by adding greater details. Throughout the year, we will be reading several books that go along with our writing theme for that unit.

Language Arts 4: Students will continue to develop their writing skills this year by writing more detailed sentences and begin to write a story or two. We will continue to incorporate reading and writing together. There will also be a focus on developing a stronger vocabulary that can be included in some of our writings.


Science: This year, the students will be studying Chemistry, including the various components of atoms and molecules, changes in the elements, The Periodic Table, states of matter, changes in matter, and more. They will participate in hands-on demonstrations and learn how to think through the experiment process.
